CITY PUTS RESIDENTS AT RISK FOR ID THEFT?

The City of Columbus, Ohio may be putting its residents at risk for identity theft when it retires old computers, according to one data security expert.  Columbus’ Department of Technology claims it receives guarantees from its computer-disposal vendor that its hard drives and data storage devices have been destroyed.   However, the city’s technicians do not keep a of what computers and storage devices have been taken out of service and sent for destruction.
